Sprouting Monster Egg Sculpture

$60.00

This egg sculpture was thrown on the wheel with recycled colored clay, which gives it this matte grey aspect. A more colorful batch of recycled colored clay was used to create the four sprouting egg, that were then carved to enhance the marbled effect. The outside of the egg is unglazed but the tips of the “tentacles” and tripod base are glazed . The tentacles have a touch of yellowish-green glaze at the tip, while the base is covered with a clear glaze. Both pieces were fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C). The egg is 9 inches tall with the base and about 4 inches at its widest. The base is 4 1/4 inches wide from one tip to the other. The egg is resting on the base but is not attached to it and you can separate them. If you like weird and unsettling art, this one is for you. It is part of my “Monster Egg” collection. If you sleep too well at night, you can try to imagine what will come out of these tentacles when the egg hatches!
