Three -Piece Ceramic Nesting Sculpture Made with Blue, Green and Orange Colored Clay
This three piece sculpture was thrown on the wheel with different colored clays then carved out. All pieces were glazed with a clear glaze on the inside but not the outside. There is a simple flat base under them, which is also covered with a clear glaze. All pieces were fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C). The smallest one is about 2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide, the medium one is 3 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide and the bigger one is 3 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide. I can’t help anthropomorphizing these sculptures (I see a family embracing) but you can imagine anything you want. It’s quite intriguing to look at. You can turn the inside sculptures in different ways and get a different effect. A tea candle just fits inside the little one. You could also turn the base over so the unglazed part is on top and rub essential oils in it to diffuse in your house, either with or without the candle.
