Spiky Monster Egg
Mesmerizing to look at, this sculpture was thrown on the wheel, then the colored clay spikes were added later. The spherical sculpture is suspended in the air by the spikes. The sphere is covered with a matte white glaze while the spikes were left unglazed. It was fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C) and is 5 inches tall and wide. You can interpret it the way you want, as a kind of virus, the egg of a spiky alien creature, an original cannon ball or on the contrary some kind of fun futuristic toy. No matter what you see in it, it won’t leave you indifferent. This piece is part of my “Monster” egg serie.
