Marbled and Carved Onion Egg Sculpture
This sculptural container was thrown on the wheel with recycled colored clay, which gives it a marbled effect with mostly grey and white stripes but also some streaks of brighter colors. It was carved to give texture and enhance the marbled effect . The inside is covered with a clear glaze while the outside was left unglazed. It was fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C) and is 4 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide. The opening is quite narrow (about 1 inch wide) but it could hold some wild flowers (it is water tight) , or use it as an incense holder.
