Neriage Moon Jar with blue and pink streaks
This piece was thrown on the wheel with different colored clay which you can see as swirly streaks around the pot in blue and pink. This technique is called “Neriage”. I also hand-carved lines on the piece to emphasize the streaks and give it an interesting texture. This pot is unglazed and mostly decorative since the very small spout makes it hard to put a flower in it, so it’s more a sculpture than a functional object. It was fired at 2200 degrees F or 1200 degrees C. Measurements: 5”HX4”WX4”D
