Monster Spider Egg Sculpture with Colored Clay Silk Strands
Spooky egg shaped sculpture, small by the size but big by its presence. I used recycled colored clay to shape the egg on the wheel which gives it a marbled effect, and then opened it up and added colored clay silk strings crisscrossing over it. In my mind, it's an alien spider egg and some kind of spiderish alien creature will come out of it if you wait long enough, but you can imagine whatever creature you want. It It is unglazed on the outside with a lot of texture and glazed on the inside. is watertight. It was fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C). It is part of my Monster egg series.
