Porcelain Egg Sculpture with Green Carved Fern Design

$48.00

This egg sculpture was thrown on the wheel, then the fern design was carved out and covered with a deep green colored slip (liquid clay) that was then scraped off but stayed in the grooves to create this design. It was then covered with a clear glaze as well as the tripod base it is resting on. Both pieces were fired at cone 10 (over 2300 degrees F or 1200 degrees C). The egg is 5 1/2 inches tall and about 4 inches at its widest. The egg is resting on its base and cannot be separated from it: they fused in the kiln. At least it won’t tip over!
