Colored Dots Egg

$55.00

This egg sculpture was thrown on the wheel, then paper circles of various sizes were added and covered with different colored slips (liquid clay) so that when the paper was removed, circles of different colors appeared underneath. It was then carved out to accentuate the shape. It makes me think of colorful balls being thrown in the air by a juggler. The design was then covered with a clear glaze as well as the tripod base it is resting on. Both pieces were fired at cone 6 (over 2200 degrees F or 1200 degrees C). The egg is 6 inches tall and about 4 inches at its widest. The egg and base are sold together. Any imperfection in the layering of the colors is part of the process.
